O My Coins (inspired by Robert Burns’s “A Red Red Rose”)
O my coin is like a firefly
That brightly shines in the summer night;
O my coin is like the mountain creek
That rapidly flows to the seller’s sleeve.
As rare art thou, my dear money,
So badly in need am I;
And I will chase thee all my life,
Like the fly looking for a pie.
Nobody explains why, my coins
Gone from the wallet like a waving tide!
O I will love thee still, my coins,
Though thou leave me without saying bye.
A Red, Red Rose
by Robert Burns
O my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
While the snads o' lige shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel, awhile!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile!
